Becky and I filled her van with our progeny today and drove about an hour south to Girdwood, a tiny hippie town that is known for it's love of peace and pot. It's also the home of Alyeska Resort (skiing and snowboarding) and the Alyeska Prince Hotel where Tyler and I honeymooned. We went to the Girdwood Forest Fair which consists of a whole bunch of vendors of both food and wares set up in a beautiful Cottonwood forest. There's also an amazing park next to the Fair that the kids LOVED playing in. We spent most of our time playing in the park and Becky and I both want to come back sans children so we can spend some time looking at what you can buy there. We did get to eat some great Himalayan food, though (curried garbanzo beans, pork and rice) and we ran into a few good friends. Fun was had by all!
This is on our way back to the car after we were all Fair-ed out. Maia was being a big helper and Maddie was in dire need of sleep, the little grump.
Tired Maddie summoned up a smile for me at the end of our adventure.
Maia, Maddie and Vivian all got their faces painted. Vivian and Maia both chose roses and Maddie chose a "rainbow unicorn with a pink horn."
Best friends! Maddie loves Vivian...they've known and loved (when they're not fighting) each other their entire lives and I hope it stays that way.

Maddie was THRILLED when we ran into one of her favorite people, Madeline Anderson, at the park. We know Madeline from church and she is a lovely young woman.
Best friends! Katelyn gave Maia a "Best Friends" necklace a couple of days ago. Maia's says "Best" and Katelyn's says "Friends". Maia treasures it! She absolutely adores Katelyn and I'm grateful my Maia has such good taste in friends because we all adore Katelyn too.

This is the sign at the entrance to the Forest Fair. It's classic Girdwood. As we drove out of Girdwood, there was another prominent sign that said, "May the forest be with you."
