Maia got her ears pierced!

Yesterday, Maia decided she was ready to get pierced ears. Tyler and I told her a few months ago, when she first brought it up, that she could get them pierced whenever she wanted to. She had thought we'd make her wait until she was much older, so she was surprised. She put it off, though, because she was worried about how much it would hurt. Yesterday, she asked me all about it and after I explained to her that it was very temporary pain and nothing she hasn't breezed through before, she decided she was ready. Maia is my Shot Warrior. She has NEVER, not even as a baby, cried for a single shot. She's a nurse's dream! And that's just how she approached getting her ears pierced. She was literally bouncing on the chair in anticipation. All she did when the actual piercing was done was look very serious for a second and then she was just anxious to see what she looked like. She is very pleased with the results, and we think she looks pretty darn cute too. Surprisingly, Maddie wasn't the least bit jealous and has no desire (yet) to pierce her ears. Generally, if Maia gets something, Maddie has to have it too, but Maddie didn't even want to watch the piercing. Which, really, shouldn't surprise me, considering how SHE has always reacted to shots. Generally, she's voicing her angry displeasure before the needles have even appeared. Like mother, like daughter, in this instance! :)
A happy, accessorized Maia and a tired Maddie.
