"Spring" Break in Anchorage

Maia laying in the snow in our yard.
Spring, such as it is for Alaskans, it still a distant hope. How I look forward to that lovely time of year when all the cars are filthy from driving in the slushy mud that the melting snow creates. When all the dog poop that was frozen solid over the winter thaws and emits a smell almost as rank as it's original odor. When you only have to wear three layers to be comfortable outside and you can occasionally go without a hat. When you feel sorry for any tourists who chose April as the month to make their trip-of-lifetime trek to Anchorage. When this beautiful place is at its ugliest. Luckily, Spring here is shortlived. And then, ah, blissful summer! Warm, LONG days that make me happy to live here again. Sigh. I can't wait for the first time I get to lay in my swing in the front yard and work on my tan. :)
The girls played outside for awhile today (this is Maddie). Maia is on her Spring Break this week and she's enjoying her vacation, but she misses her friends at school.
Notice the cute family of snowmen the girls and some of the neighbor kids built.
Watching some TV while Mom rides her stationary bike.
Poor gimpy Olly is healing, but not quickly enough for any of us, including him. He wants to run and play so very much!
Relaxing with a good "kid show", as Maddie calls them.
