A busy day!

Saturday, December 11th, was Tyler's 34th birthday! We began the day by eating Golden Donuts (we put a candle in Tyler's favorite flavor: vanilla frosting-filled glazed) and unwrapping presents.
A happy Tyler holds "The Pacific", an HBO series about fighting in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. We've watched two episodes so far and it's wonderful. Heartbreaking, but wonderful.
Modeling the cozy sweatshirt Maia picked out for him. Maddie got him some of his favorite treats (Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and a Lindt Raspberry Chocolate bar) and I also gave Tyler a book by Eugene Sledge about his experiences in WWII.

Happy Birthday to Tyler!
Later that morning, we went to Barnes & Noble for a Gladys Wood Elementary school fundraiser (Maia went to Gladys Wood Elementary for Kindergarten). Becky's son Jacob is a 1st grader at Gladys Wood and he was performing with a large group of 1st graders. They sang several fun songs, including some Christmas ones. In this picture, Maia (sitting on the floor; in pink) and Maddie (in purple) are avidly listening to Jacob and his peers sing.
There was also face painting at Barnes & Noble, so Maddie got a rose on her cheek...
...and Maia got a unicorn.
Maddie LOVES these stuffed dinosaur toys at Barnes & Noble (the last time we were there, before this last Saturday, Maddie played with them for a long time too). When she was distracted, Tyler bought one for Maia to give to Maddie for Christmas. I'm excited to see her reaction when she opens that present!
After we went to Barnes & Noble, Maia had her Irish dancing lesson and then we went straight to the Dimond Pool for a birthday party. Taylor Heckart, one of Maia's classmates, turned 8 and since her little sister, Madison, is one of Maddie's preschool buddies, Maddie was invited too. Tyler got in the water too and the girls had a lot of fun playing with their buddies and their dad. In this picture, Maddie is happily floating in the kiddie pool.
More floating...Maia is playing with the tubey-thingy in the background. :)
Maia's turn to float!
A cute Maddie wedgie and an almost-submerged Tyler.
After the party, we dropped the girls off at Peggy's house (our wonderful next-door neighbor) and went out to dinner with Jason and Becky and their 4-month-old daughter, Aila. Here she is trying to swipe her daddy's wallet. :) We went to the Bear Tooth Grill because Tyler was craving their carne asada burrito. I got their carne taco salad and it was amazing! Sooooo delicious! We had a great time celebrating Tyler's birth and it was a nice end to a busy, but good, day. Becky and Jason gave Tyler ammo for his gun for his birthday and he was quite happy about that. :)
Those Nelsens are so hot right now. :) Tyler is wearing the shirt my parents bought him for his birthday (from Eddie Bauer). Now on to celebrating our 11th anniversary (on the 22nd)!
